Who’s Your Favorite Seiyuu of the Week!

Hey everyone, Gabe here for this week’s Seiyuu of the Week Segment! This week I’m featuring a certain unique kind of voice actor. She’s acted for a fair amount of anime and has a very special kind of voice that has quite a lot of diverging opinions, but nonetheless is a personal favorite of mine.

Arai Satomi

Arai Satomi

When I say Arai’s voice is unique, it’s no exaggeration. She has a pretty high-pitched voice that could be described as nasally. You might hear her playing some roles with some serious lines such as Shinozaki Sayoko from Code Geass, but most of the time you’ll hear her in a comedic role. Typically, when she’s playing a non-serious role, the character will be an odd one nine times out of ten, like Hana Ranko from Seitokai Yakuindomo. Her voice adds a charm to the character, and when she gets into it, makes their lines funnier than usual, like with Shirai Kuroko from Index.

Arai Satomi Roles

Roles You May Know Satomi In

Shirai Kuroko from To Aru Majutsu no Index
Bisca Mulan from Fairy Tale
Natto-Kozou from Nurarihyon no Mago
Narrator from Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi
Shinozaki Sayoko from Code Geass

Satomi’s been fairly consistent in how many roles she gets to voice during her career, and lately she’s been getting more and more active. She’s a great addition to any show that wants a little bit of comedic relief with a silly character, and she can do well in serious roles as well.

That’s it for this week’s Seiyuu of the Week!. Look forward to the next one with great anticipation.
